Made by Enoch Wood & Sons, c. 1820-1830, this plate features an early American train and railroad scene, surrounded by Wood’s characteristic shell and seaweed border. This is the ‘flat’ pattern showing the B&O Railroad train on level track. Of interest, this and its ‘sister’ pattern which shows the train on an incline, were created to commemorate the start of the railroad’s construction, before there were trains running in the US!
This is a great piece for to add to your collection, as it is in enviable condition. No chips, cracks, utensil marks - it is rare, sought after, and pristine.
